The challenge of modern farming.

Talk to any farmer in the world and they will tell you their crops face stress, it's just a matter of severity. It is the fundamental challenge of growing plants in an uncontrolled environment. Whether it is heat, drought, or salinity (the list goes on) agricultural crops experience some level of stress almost every season, regardless of location. Although this is a natural part of farming, resource demands are mounting at an unsustainable pace with changing climate conditions. The unnerving truth is that climate stress translates to decreased yields, lower quality crops & less vital resources for sustaining life.

So what can we do about it?

Picture
The simplest solution is to generate agricultural crops that can handle abiotic stresses, and even flourish under them. At first pass it sounds inconceivable, but we know it has been done before by Mother Nature. There are plenty of examples of native plants thriving in harsh habitats all over the globe. But how do they manage it?

As it turns out, they get a little help from some friends.

SYMBIOSIS

Research has revealed that plants can't survive harsh conditions by themselves. They form vital relationships with microbes that benefit both species. Our team was interested in the fungi that live inside the plants (endophytes). Over years of research we discovered these fungi confer stress tolerance to plants, allowing them to survive, and thrive, in very difficult environments. With on-going shifts in climate bringing high levels of abiotic stress to agricultural fields these fungi are a great solution to helping crops combat growing challenges.
Our Story

Field testing and commercial sales

Picture
In order to put these endophytic fungi to the test, we knew we needed expansive field testing with varied crop species in order to achieve reliable and repeatable results. Since 2012 over 1,000 field trials have been performed globally, ranging in size from small plots to 100 acres. We found that irrespective of climate zone and soil type, stress or NO stress, our fungi still increased crop yields. (See field trial results). We knew we were on to something with commercial significance and set about developing a functionally diverse line of products.

Our product line

Since 2017, we have commercialized a diverse range of biological products: BioEnsure®, BioEnsure®FP, BioTango™ and BioIQ®. These crop treatment products have been developed to confer positive symbiotic benefits to a broad range of crop types. They all provide protection from extreme ecological conditions, and provide necessary nutrients and minerals. This allows for enhanced yields in the presence and absence of stress. Collectively, these benefits encompass the following:
+  Abiotic stress tolerance to drought and extreme temperatures
+  Increased crop yields and yield quality
+  Improved seed germination
+  Enhanced seedling growth and development
+  Increased nutrient use efficiency

BioEnsure® is a liquid crop treatment aimed at providing protection from the abiotic stresses Mother Nature lobs at growers; think temperature extremes and drought. It can increase nutrient-use-efficiency, yield and yield quality. It is easily  applied as a seed treatment, in-furrow or as a foliar spray. (OMRI Certified)

Recognizing that some growers prefer powdered seed treatments we developed BioEnsure®FP, a flowable powder with the same powerful symbiotic fungi of BioEnsure®. With an asbestos-free talc carrier, it is great for dry-seed applications.
